Testimony from one of our invaluable volunteers last year:
I had the privilege of volunteering for Taking Flight Theatre Company in June 2007, on their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Pembrokeshire, Wales. We had one week to do the show - rehearsals and performances - and it was a great success. I went along as a volunteer and ended up being stage manager for the show. It was hard work, but fun and I learnt a whole host of new skills too. Because Taking Flight is a small company, everyone becomes very close in a small space of time and I've made friends that I'm still in touch with today. Volunteering for the company is great for drama and theatre students looking to gain work experience in a range of skills. Beth and Elise are a dynamic team who carry out all their roles - acting, directing and producing - with passion, commitment and fun. I would be involved with every production if I could! Thanks to Taking Flight for an amazing experience.

Summer 2008

“I first volunteered with Taking Flight Theatre Company in the summer of 2009. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and could not believe the warm welcome I received. The company made me feel at ease, it was so easy to get stuck into helping out.
Being a volunteer I was able to see the interaction between the audience and performers. It was fantastic to see the different ages of audience, all being able to enjoy outdoor Shakespeare. One of the many things that Taking Flight does well is to make theatre accessible to all audiences and make Shakespeare fun for all ages. It really is a magical experience. I can not wait to be playing Juliet with them this summer.
The main thing that I gained from being a volunteer was the confidence to interact with and lead an audience, I was able to see how a professional company works and the work ethic needed in this industry. I hope that many people come to support Taking flight and see how creative and involving a production can be. I can not think of a better way to spend a summers evening!”
