So How was Taking Flight Born?

Beth met Elise whilst working on a youth theatre project in South Wales. Having worked extensively together since then on a freelance basis, they decided to make it official and set up Taking Flight. Our aim with this company is to work with groups of people who have traditionally been under- represented in theatre, film and television.

Taking Flight is a non building- based company. We have a base in Cardiff, but to run our workshops and residencies we travel to agreed hired venues that are fully accessible and suitable for the requirements of a particular group.

 

All our courses aim to:

• Increase confidence
• Improve movement and wheelchair skills (where appropriate)
• Improve vocal technique including projection, diction and tone
• Assist with Spatial awareness
• Create a group identity and team work

 

Most of our courses include a performance element however this is not always a necessity as we believe the process is as important as the end product.

Elise Davison   Artistic Director

Elise has worked in Theatre as an Actress, Director and Teacher for over 12 years.  Her work has spanned Theatre, Film and Radio.  Elise believes that Drama and Theatre can overcome personal obstacles and that participation in the Arts should not be restricted by Physical limitations.

Since graduating 10 years ago, Beth has been travelling, bringing up her 2 small boys and, somewhere in there, working as an actress and facilitator with various companies and groups. She is very excited to be embarking on a project which will enable her, and hopefully all those involved, to utilise their creativity in new ways.
